Design and Decoration Services
Depending on your project, our design services may be delivered individually or as a complete Design Concept. When combined, they create a clear and considered plan for how your home will function, feel, and come together.
Whether your project is completed all at once or in stages, it’s a clear, cohesive vision that defines the look, feel, and functionality of your space, guiding every design decision from layout and lighting to colours, materials, and finishes.
We start with an analysis of your home, because designers often see what homeowners might miss…
We will identify layout solutions, flow improvements, and functional opportunities you may not have considered. We’ll share insights that form the design foundation so that your home works, feels balanced, and supports your lifestyle.
Our Services - Foundations of Successful Home Design
“Design isn’t guesswork — it’s part science and part art. The analysis is mostly science, and a designer’s choices of colour, shape, and material are the art.”

1. Floor Plans
FLOOR PLAN REVIEWS - show us your proposed floor plan, and we’ll evaluate the layout for flow, functionality, furniture placement, storage solutions, the impact of window placement, and more to identify potential design mistakes and missed opportunities, helping avoid costly, last-minute changes.
SPACE PLANNING - we can help you to assess room layouts and options to support everyday use, future flexibility and spatial balance. This provides a technically sound foundation for all subsequent design and specification work. We are experts at small spaces!
FUNCTIONAL ZONING - within our space-planning stage, we define clear zones for living, working, resting, and circulation, supporting each area's purpose, reducing clutter, and improving daily flow. How you naturally move through the room, where activities overlap, and where clutter or bottlenecks form.
2. Rethinking Spaces
Assessing room functions, lighting, and spatial flow to resolve awkward areas and improve overall usability. We look beyond how a space should function and focus on how you actually live day-to-day — identifying pinch points, underutilised zones, and opportunities to improve comfort and efficiency.
This includes a detailed review of room adjacencies (how spaces connect and interact), natural light patterns throughout the day, access points, and key circulation paths. We consider how people move through the home, ensuring clear walkways, better zoning, and layouts that feel intuitive rather than restrictive.
We also evaluate spatial constraints such as ceiling heights, window placements, door swings, and existing services (plumbing, electrical, etc.), all of which influence what’s possible within the space and what changes will cost.
From a structural perspective, we work with your builder to identify load-bearing walls versus flexible partitions, helping you understand what can be altered, removed, or reconfigured. We outline feasible versus non-feasible changes early in the process, so there are no surprises later.
Importantly, all recommendations are considered alongside your budget. We guide you through where to invest for the biggest impact — whether that’s reworking layout, improving lighting layers (ambient, task, and accent), or making strategic structural changes — ensuring your design decisions are both practical and financially aligned.
3. Colours & Finishes
Colours and finishes are developed with light, durability, and function in mind, ensuring that every paint colour, texture, and surface not only looks beautiful, but performs in the way your home needs it to.
We consider how natural and artificial light impacts colour throughout the day — how tones shift from morning to evening, how shadows fall, and how different finishes (matte, satin, gloss) respond within each space. This ensures colours feel consistent, intentional, and balanced rather than disconnected room to room.
Material selection is approached through the lens of real life. High-traffic areas, family living, pets, and maintenance requirements all inform the durability and practicality of finishes — from hardwearing flooring and wipeable paints to resilient benchtops and joinery surfaces.
Rather than making isolated selections, we develop colours and finishes as part of an integrated material strategy. This means considering how every element works together — cabinetry, flooring, tiles, hardware, textiles, and furnishings — creating a layered, cohesive interior where each decision supports the next.
The result is a home that feels considered and connected, with a clear material language that flows throughout — visually refined, highly functional, and built to last.
5. Joinery
We specialise in small-space interior design, creating layouts that maximise flow, storage, and comfort without compromising on style. In smaller homes and apartments, every decision carries more weight, so we focus on purposeful design. We eliminate wasted space, improve circulation, and ensure each area works harder.
This includes smart zoning, multi-functional layouts, and thoughtful planning that supports how you actually live. From reworking furniture placement to refining spatial flow, we create interiors that feel intuitive rather than cramped — where everything has a place, and nothing feels like an afterthought.
Custom joinery plays a key role in this process. We design tailored solutions that integrate seamlessly into your space, maximising storage, concealing clutter, and enhancing functionality without adding visual noise. Every detail is resolved, from internal configurations to external finishes, ensuring your joinery works hard behind the scenes while looking effortless.
The result is a space that feels larger, more functional, and beautifully resolved — designed to fit your home as if it was always meant to be there.
4. Selections
We manage the selection, specification, and sourcing process end-to-end, ensuring every piece is considered in relation to the whole. From sizing and scale to materiality and placement, everything is selected to fit properly, function seamlessly, and contribute to a cohesive, well-balanced space.
This means no weekends spent second-guessing decisions. Instead, you can feel confident that every detail has been thought through and aligned with your design.
If you’d like White Glove Service, we can coordinate suppliers, track orders, and manage timelines so items arrive on a single day, removing the stress of delays, managing multiple deliveries and removing all of that packaging!
Where possible, we pass on a portion of our trade and wholesale discounts to you. This helps keep your overall spend efficient while still allowing you to access high-quality, design-led pieces, giving you better value without compromising the end result.
6. Bringing your design to life
Procurement and execution are where we make it happen. We liaise with trades, manage orders, and oversee installation to ensure every detail is delivered accurately, professionally, and in line with the approved design.
We can provide White Glove Service, from placing and tracking orders to coordinating delivery and installation of furniture, lighting, window furnishings, finishes, and final styling elements. Each item is specified with intention, and we ensure it arrives as expected, fits correctly, and is installed with care.
A key part of this phase is liaising directly with trades. We serve as the central point of communication for your builder and will liaise with our own electricians, painters, flooring installers, upholsterers, and more, ensuring everyone works from the same documentation and understands the design intent. We clarify details, answer questions, and coordinate with you on-site, helping work to flow efficiently.
Throughout execution, we maintain close oversight to protect the design. We resolve on-site challenges quickly, check that workmanship aligns with specifications, and ensure timelines and budgets stay on track. This level of coordination means fewer delays, smoother installation, and a more polished final result.
Working with a Melbourne interior designer means you don’t need to manage multiple suppliers; we handle the moving parts, so everything comes together seamlessly.
The final stage is where it all settles into place. Once installation is complete, we refine the space with finishing touches and styling, ensuring it feels cohesive, balanced, and ready to live in. We can also arrange professional photography to capture the result, so all that’s left for you to do is enjoy your space, exactly as it was designed to be.
